Gedling Libdems protest against closure of Gedling Tip
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson Julia Bateman recently led local residents and activists to protest at the proposed closure of Gedling Recycling Centre on Arnold Lane.
The County Council intend to close Gedling Tip at the end of March. They say it is little used and too many people who live in the City use it. In fact it is one of the best used sites in the County and we estimate only 1 user in 6 lives outside Gedling Borough.
If closure goes ahead, residents will be forced to travel to Calverton, adding a 12 mile round trip, which will be bad for the environment.

Julia Bateman said: "I am very concerned that closing Gedling Tip will lead to an increase in fly tipping. This will have to be cleared up by Gedling Borough Council and Gedling Council tax payers will be forced to foot the bill. The County Council may be making cuts but they are passing the costs on to others. I am also worried that there will be a big drop in recycling as people use their wheelie bin rather than take things to a recycling centre."
