Liberal Democrats raise concerns on poor police performance

More Police needed on the streets Responding to recent press reports that Notts police rated its own performance as "poor" , Julia Bateman, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Gedling said:

"I am pleased that Notts police force have made this information public. However, this verdict is disappointing. It is a major concern that Notts police force has revealed itself to be lagging behind in dealing with serious crime such as burglaries, robberies, assaults and gun crime. This is why the Liberal Democrats are committed to putting 3000 more police on the streets throughout the country. People need to feel safe at home, safe in their street, safe in our town centres."

She urged Assistant Chief Constable Peter Davies, who is reported as saying that the force is "bridging the gap" between it and comparable forces, to make good on this promise as soon as possible and raise the standards in local policing. Julia said: "A properly resourced police force would lead to progress in general crime prevention and ensure that the reduction in crime reported for January continues."
